Baby’s First Christmas

For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord! Luke 2:11

The above picture is from my very first Christmas!

I may not remember that one, but I do remember the first Christmas’s of my two children. Both of them were quite young on their first christmas; Noah was 3 months old for his first Christmas and Maddie was only 2 months old for hers. And even though they were too young to remember or understand, we helped them open their little gifts and read the Christmas story to them, while they wore their footie Christmas pjs. **Sigh** such beautiful memories! There’s something so fun and special about sharing Christmas with a new baby. They bring a new excitement and expectation which reignites a passion in our own hearts.

Our Savior has been born!

This will be a sign to you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.

Luke 2:12

His humble entrance into our world reminds me of the chorus of one of my favorite Christmas songs:

Who would have dreamed or ever foreseen

That we could hold God in our hands?

The Giver of Life is born in the night

Revealing God’s glorious plan

To save the world

Who Would’ve Dreamed by Sovereign Grace

And what a plan it was!

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:14

We have walked through these last four weeks preparing and planning and reminiscing. And now, let us enter these next few days with the excitement and joy that this new baby brings!

Merry Christmas!
