Relationships can be complicated! Often I share encouraging thoughts, songs and poems, but there is much more to life than that. As an optimist, it has been a painful reality in my life that not all relationships will be restored. The easy button isn’t real..haha…and often we are left with lots of questions and hurt to deal with. This poem is an honest reflection of that realization. Nothing more. Nothing less.
It is called Estranged.

My heart beats with the panic//
Whenever you are near// My feet are swift to run away//
My eyes fill up with tears//
I’ve searched for words that I could say//
But nothing can restore//
The pain that lies between us now//
I had to close the door//
Distance is our greatest friend//
You go right and I’ll go left//
Never to unite again//
In life, but then there’s death…//
You’ve left my sight, my heart rate slows//
Peace once again prevails//
Keep walking friend, don’t turn around//
