Songwriting Story for Let the Wind Blow:

Let the Wind Blow started one day as I was studying the Hebrew meaning of the Holy Spirit. I was reading the footnotes for John 20:22 and was captured by the meaning given: Sacred Breath.

John 20:22 TPT

Then, taking a deep breath, he blew[a] on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.[b]

TPT Footnotes

  1. John 20:22 The Greek word used here does not appear elsewhere in the New Testament, however, it is the same word found in the Septuagint for God “breathed” into Adam’s nostrils the breath of life (Gen. 2:7). The beginning of new creation life came from the breath of Jesus. The mighty wind of Acts 2 was for power, the breath Jesus breathed into his disciples in this verse was for life.
  2. John 20:22 Or “accept the Sacred Breath.”

It was so inspiring that I had to express it somehow, so started working on a poem entitled Sacred Breath:

Sacred breath I breathe you in and out

Tune my ears to hear the songs you sing

Focus my eyes to see your ancient mysteries

Strengthen my feet to walk the unknown ways

Soften my heart to feel the love in all you say

Sacred breath I breathe you in and out

From there I sat down to the piano to sing it and recorded a simple melody. At my next co-write, which was with Cole Tague, I offered this as a song start and we ran with it and completed the song, Let the Wind Blow!
